Solitary Intercostal Arterial Trunk
During embryonic life, events may alter the normal growth and fusion of the endocardial tube, the paired dorsal aortae, and the vitelline plexus, leading to anomalies and variants of the mature axial arterial system.1 Many of these are well known, especially those associated with the aorta, heart, and umbilical artery.1,2 Vitelline variants have also been found that are either associated with M...

متن کاملAnomalous origin of the left coronary arterial tree through three stems--one from the pulmonary trunk.
In an 18-year-old asymptomatic male athlete, the left anterior descending coronary artery was found to arise from the pulmonary trunk. The remainder of the left coronary arterial tree arose through two stems from the aorta. Collateral retrograde filling of the left anterior descending coronary artery from the right coronary artery and the left circumflex coronary artery was demonstrated, but we...
متن کاملAnomalous branching pattern of celiac trunk
The hepatic, splenic and left gastric arteries are considered as the ‘‘main classic branches’’ of the celiac trunk (CT). In the embryonic life, yolk sac is supplied by vitelline arteries. Later they gradually fuse and help in formation of the arteries dorsal to the mesentery of the gut. In the adult, they are developed as CT, superior mesenteric and inferior mesenteric arteries. These vessels s...
متن کاملA rare variant of common arterial trunk.
A 13 day old baby was admitted to hospital with multiple abnormalities, increasing cyanosis, and cardiac failure. Cardiac catheterisation was performed on the day of admission and he died shortly after the procedure. A rare variant of common arterial trunk, in which the pulmonary arteries arose directly from the underside of the aortic arch, was found at necropsy.
